Hunting the Lights Mystery in Lapland

It is not a mystery from a scientific point of view any more, but when you eyewitness the fabulous luminescent play of aurora borealis you do not think of science. You are immersed in the drama of mythically changing lights displayed in the sky before you. It is a cosmic experience indeed.

The best chance to see the northern lights is to go beyond the Arctic Circle, so Rovaniemi, Finland, which is 15 kilometers south of its line, is a good starting point. They call it northern lights chasing because your luck to see the magnificent show depends on the cloudless sky with no artificial light pollution. But do not worry, there is always chance when is “hunting tour”.

Your experienced guide will explain how this optical phenomenon happens by the bonfire.

If you book the trip, your aurora borealis chase will start in Rovaniemi in a van through the Lappish wilderness. The driver, who is a professional guide, knows the best places with the highest opportunities to catch nature’s lights demonstration.

Make sure that you are warmly dressed. It is an evening trip, the temperature will be below zero and will last 3-4 hours. Put on warm hats and scarves, winter shoes or boots and several layers of warm clothes.
